Noëlle Tschirren

I am biologist deeply fascinated by animal behavior. During my Bachelor's research at the University of Bern, Switzerland, I have worked on tadpole personality and found that personality traits remain consistent across metamorphosis in a Neotropical poison frog. For my Master’s degree in Ecology & Evolution, we investigated how advertisement calling is shaped by personality and how it ultimately influences reproductive success in the same species of poison frog, conducting the research in the tropical rainforests of French Guiana. As of 2024, I am a PhD candidate at Wageningen University & Research, supervised by Lysanne Snijders, Chris Tyson, and Marc Naguib, in collaboration with Simon Griffith (Macquarie University, Sydney). Our research focuses on understanding the social organization and vocal communication of wild Zebra Finches in the Australian Outback. By studying these birds extensively observed in laboratory settings, we aim to gain a better understanding in how they behave in their natural environment.
